Power Generation

We currently operate the São Simão Hydropower Plant, two wind farms, two solar power plants and we are shareholders of GNA - Natural Gas Açu. Our diverse energy matrix totals 3,106 MW of installed power. Maintaining the safety of people and the environment is a priority for us. That’s why we operate with a careful eye on all aspects of operations.

In 2018, we took over the operation of the São Simão hydropower plant. Since then, we have put in place a modernization plan that has promoted new job generation in the region and a safer and more efficient generation.

Vale dos Ventos Wind Complex

Vale dos Ventos Winds Wind Complex is our largest operating wind farm in Brazil. Since 2009, its renewable energy generation has prevented the emission of approximately 44,509 tons of CO2. Certified by ISO 14001, 9001 and 55001, the Complex operates under a long-term contract with Eletrobras, a Brazilian state-owned power generation, transmission and distribution company.

Millennium Wind Park

The Millennium Wind Farm was SPIC’s first renewable energy development in Brazil, and has already avoided the emission of 11,701 tons of CO2. To ensure minimal impact on the environment, the park has operated since 2007 under an environmental management system certified to the international standard ISO 14001, in addition to ISO 9001 and 55001.

GNA - Gás Natural Açu

In 2020 SPIC Brasil acquired 33% of the GNA I and GNA II thermoelectric power plants, located in Porto do Açu (RJ), in partnership with Prumo, BP and Siemens Energy. Total power generation will be 3 GW. We will also participate in future expansion projects GNA III and GNA IV, which provide for the combined use of natural gas (LNG) and domestic gas from Brazilian pre-salt reserves.

Panati Solar Plant

The Solar Panati Plant is located in Jaguaratema (CE), about 240km from Fortaleza. With 292 MWp, it will occupy an area of 840 ha.

The Marangatu solar complex is located in Brasileira (PI), about 180 km from Teresina, with 446 MWp and an occupancy area of 1,061 ha.
